Community Appeal for Hawkshead Residents and Tourists Stranded in the Snow

This is a local community appeal. Following the heavy downfall of snow in Cumbria yesterday, many members of the local public and tourists visiting the Hawkshead Christmas Fair were stranded in Hawkshad overnight, and remain there now. The Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary School kindly opened their doors to over 200 people for warmth and to stay the night, and the Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club has funded hot meals (fish and chips) for everyone. The roads in and out of Hawkshead remain closed, and so people remain stranded. Fish and Chips in Morecambe

The Lions Club were very pleased to support a trip that was organised by the Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust to take 30 Windermere residents on a day trip to the lovely Morecambe! Writeup included below pictures: This morning a Bibbys coach collected 30 passengers from Windermere to take them to the seaside for fish and chips. The weather at Morecambe couldn't have been better. It was sunny and warm and the views across the bay were stunning, so clear you could see the wind turbines at Walney.
