Community Appeal for Hawkshead Residents and Tourists Stranded in the Snow

This is a local community appeal.

Following the heavy downfall of snow in Cumbria yesterday, many members of the local public and tourists visiting the Hawkshead Christmas Fair were stranded in Hawkshad overnight, and remain there now. The Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary School kindly opened their doors to over 200 people for warmth and to stay the night, and the Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club has funded hot meals (fish and chips) for everyone.

The roads in and out of Hawkshead remain closed, and so people remain stranded.

Please contact us using a private message on Facebook, email secretary@lakeslions.co.uk, or by contacting our treasurer Philip Fell on 07580 045719, if you would like to make a dontion to help.

Any donation received will be split 50/50 between the Lions Club and Hawkshead & Ethwaite Primary School, to help cover costs.

Thank you

Chris Burstow, Secretary, Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club
