Every year we nominate a “Supported Charity” to be a beneficiary from the money raised from the Lakes Charity Classic Vechicle Show, as well as retaining some of the proceeds within the Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club Charity for local distribution. In the past, this has resulted in substantial donations going to organisations including: The Birchall Trust Parkinsons – West Cumbria Branch Headway South Cumbria MS Society Sandgate Hydrotherapy Pool in Kendal Blood Bikes Cumbria Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team South Lakeland Young Carers & the Cumbria Children’s Hospice, Jigsaw Trust Bendrigg Trust Calvert Trust and other local charities. The Windermere & Ambleside Lions Club is very pleased to award the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to Lion Chris Amos at our recent Charter, in recognition of the excellent work serving his community over many years, through his association with the Windermere and Ambleside Lions Club. The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award is the highest accolade any Lions Club member can receive, so we congratulate and thank Chris Amos for his excellent contribution over his years of service with our Club! We are pleased to announce that the Lakes Charity Classic Vehicle Show will be returning on Sunday 18th June 2023. We have re-located the event to Staveley Recreation Ground, which is located in the beautiful village of Staveley in Cumbria (postcode LA8 9LN). Staveley Recreation Ground is a smaller venue, so we will be limiting the quantity of classic vehicles attending in 2023, so if you wish to bring your vehicle along we urge you to secure your entry as soon as possible. As I hope you will appreciate, staging the event takes months of planning and, given the uncertainty for this year, we have sadly made the decision to cancel the show again for 2022. Windermere and Ambleside Lions Clubs Classic Vehicle Show has, since its inception in 2012, managed to raise many thousands of pounds for local and national charities. This has only been possible due to the fantastic support of vehicle exhibitors, trade stand operators and our sponsors for which we thank each and every one of you. After two years of “pandemic presidency”, Lion Chris Amos passes on the chain of office to Lion Keith Fell for the Lions Year 2021/22 We normally do this at a social gathering and Keith would not normally wear shorts and work boots. Good luck Keith!

Many congratulations to the happy couple as Lions Philip and Rachel tie the knot in style at the Netherwood Hotel in Grange in December 2019. A lovely day was had by all - thanks to the generosity of these two fabulous Lions - we wish you all the best for you happy future together Thanks also to Lion Christoph Amos for picking up the role of best man - at least you didn't lose the rings and I heard you nailed the speech in your Cockney accent (apples and pears)!
